Missing Teeth
When one or more adult teeth never came in or were lost.
What Is It?
Missing teeth can happen when an adult tooth never developed (congenitally missing), was removed, or was lost due to injury. The most commonly missing teeth are upper laterals and second premolars.
Signs to Look For
- Visible gap where a tooth should be
- Neighboring teeth may start drifting into the space
- Baby tooth still present with no adult tooth coming in
- Difficulty chewing in the affected area
What Causes It?
Genetics (hypodontia), injury, infection, or previous extraction.
How We Fix It
Braces can either close the gap entirely or create the perfect space for a dental implant or bridge placed by your general dentist. Dr. Kamdar coordinates with your dentist.
Varies — typically 12–24 months for the orthodontic phase
