Most patients feel mild pressure for the first 1–2 days of each new set — this is a good sign that the aligners are working. Unlike braces, there are no metal brackets or wires to poke or irritate your cheeks.

Remove aligners before eating or drinking anything except plain water. Food particles trapped under aligners promote bacteria growth. Colored drinks (coffee, tea, wine, juice) can stain the plastic and won't taste great through a tray.

Remove your aligners first. Hot liquids can warp the SmartTrack® plastic, affecting fit. After drinking, rinse your mouth and reinsert your aligners — don't leave them out longer than necessary.

Rinse with lukewarm water every time you remove them — never hot water. Clean daily using Invisalign cleaning crystals, a drop of clear liquid soap, or a soft toothbrush. Avoid toothpaste, which is abrasive and will scratch and cloud the plastic.

Contact us right away. Dr. Kamdar will advise whether to move to your next set early, go back to your previous set, or order a replacement. Don't just skip a set without guidance.

Yes — remove your aligners and wear a mouthguard during contact sports. This protects both your aligners and your teeth. After the game, brush your teeth before reinserting.

A small adjustment period is normal — some patients notice a slight lisp for the first few days. It typically resolves within a week as your tongue adapts. Most people notice no change at all.

Yes. Vivera™ retainers — made by Invisalign using the same technology as your aligners — are custom-made and included in your treatment. Worn nightly long-term, they maintain your results permanently.

Bring it up at your next check-in, or contact us sooner if you're concerned. Dr. Kamdar may add small tooth-colored bumps called attachments to help with specific tooth movements, or adjust your schedule.

Treatment ranges from 6 to 18 months depending on case complexity. Many patients with mild crowding or spacing complete treatment in under a year. Dr. Kamdar will give you an expected timeline at your consultation.
